Strive and Rise Programme | Micro Film Premiere Launched

In support of the “Strive and Rise Programme” initiated by the HKSAR Government, the Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation sponsored the production of a micro-film to showcase the growth and changes of young people from underprivileged families after participating in the programme. The premiere was held on 27 October and was officiated by Peter Cheng Kar-Shing, Chairman of the Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation, and The Hon Chan Kwok-Ki, Chief Secretary for Administration.

 

Written and directed by renowned director Jack Ng Wai-Lun and starring actors Fish Liu Tsz-Yu and Phoebe Cheng Chun-Yuet, the movie tells the story of the trainees who have developed a positive outlook on life and set goals for their future under the guidance of their mentors. In the past, Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation has been working with various sectors in the community, including NGOs and entities in our Group’s ecosystem, to carry out community activities and emotional health-related projects to help young people and their families overcome difficulties and strive to achieve their life goals.

Hong Kong’s wealth gap reaches ‘tipping point’ under Covid as unemployment rises among poor, Oxfam says

The pandemic has worsened Hong Kong’s wealth gap, with the city’s poorest making 47 times less than its richest residents, Oxfam Hong Kong has said. In the pre-Covid era, the highest earners made 34.3 times more.

Record number of people gave to charity globally in 2021

A record number of people donated money to charities or assisted strangers in 2021 after three-year long reduction in 2018, according to the World Giving Index 2022.

At the other end of the spectrum, half of the countries or regions which declined the most in 2021 included Hong Kong, down by 13 percentage points.
