InterGeneration No Boundaries
Hong Kong is leading the world in life expectancy. With the elderly population expected to be nearly doubled in the next 20 years, one in every three people in Hong Kong will be an elderly aged 65 by 2039. Obviously there is a pressing need to reimagine our ageing society.
Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation (the Foundation) joined hands with Lee Kam Kee Family Foundation to organise the “InterGeneration No Boundaries” initiative, and together they teamed up with non-profit organisation Asian Charity Services to roll out a series of activities including information day, symposium and hackathon to promote awareness of intergeneration, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and develop innovative porgrammes to strengthen intergenerational connectivity. The two family foundations will collectively select and co-fund two prospective intergeneration programmes, and at the same time build an InterGeneration resource bank together.
The Foundation envisions to strengthen the connection and interdependence across generations to help advance social integration and intergenerational solidarity in the community. By promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration and reorganisation of social resources which were conventionally age-segregated, the Foundation hopes to contribute to addressing the challenges brought by the rapidly ageing population.
