Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation Scholarships and Bursaries
Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation (the Foundation) cares about the education needs of students from low-income families as education is a primary pillar for helping them develop self-reliance and independence. Through the establishment of scholarships and bursaries, the Foundation supports the learning and development of disadvantaged students from grassroots families or those with financial difficulties, so that they can have equal access to quality learning experiences and opportunities, while overcoming challenges and realising their potential.
Over the years, the Foundation has been helping disadvantaged students through various initiatives, including the Scholarships and Bursaries for the Delia Group of Schools for subsidising tuition fees, special learning activities and programmes, as well as overseas exchanges and further studies for grassroots ethnic minority and new immigrant students; and the Shunde Fraternal Association Cheng Yu Tung Secondary School Scholarship and Bursary Programme which enables students encountering financial hardship to broaden their horizons and cultivates their personal qualities; as well as the “Future Stars” Upward Mobility Scholarship which is organised by The Commission on Poverty and administered by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, aiming to help secondary school students from a less privileged background but facing adversity with a positive attitude to pursue studies and achieve upward mobility.
Since its inception in 2012, the Foundation has supported more than 4,600 student-times, reducing their financial stress during their studies. As the government invests more resources in education, the Foundation is pleased to see that some of the programmes it supported in the past have been approved for incorporation into the Education Bureau’s regular assistance programme, and will continue to work with the education sector to explore future development and requirements, supporting students in need.
